The Lawrence J. Ellison Institute is seeking a talented and passionate Artificial Intelligence Research Engineer to join its team. The Institute is made up of a diverse group of innovative and talented professionals who workÂ in a fast-paced environment that provides ongoing support to research projects, patient care, lab research and administrative operations.Â
The Artificial Intelligence Research Engineer is responsible for performing the following job duties under supervision:Â
Investigate and developÂ algorithmsÂ for the effective training and deployment of Deep Learning models inÂ bio-imaging research.Â
DevelopÂ softwareÂ tools for acquiring data, processing data, visualizing results, and storing data in databases or archiving systems inÂ in a cloudÂ computingÂ infrastructure.
Develop, test, and run deepÂ learning modelsÂ forÂ classification, segmentation, object detectionÂ and relatedÂ computer visionÂ applicationsÂ usingÂ frameworks likeÂ PyTorchÂ andÂ Tensorflow.Â
Experiment with algorithms, architectures, hyperparameters, software systemsÂ andÂ discussÂ results with the research team.
Develop codeÂ and systems to deploy data processing pipelines.Â Participate in code releases.Â Contribute toÂ system design,Â integration, testing,Â andÂ documentation,Â Â
Collaborate with scientistsÂ andÂ dataÂ analystsÂ to improve results based on biological context andÂ clinical interpretations.

Preferred Experience: 5 Years
Preferred Field of Expertise: Proven experience achieving results in a scientific research environment. Deep knowledge base in a specific field.
Experience optimizing deep neural networks for training and inference
Experience building data pipelines in the cloud
Deep Learning research publications
Strong software engineering skills
Salary Range: $81k - $104k
Minimum Education: Masterâs degree Minimum Experience: 3 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Masterâs degree in engineering or related field. Experience in a laboratory setting conducting scientific research. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
