| Job Description (Senior) Competitive Intelligence Engineer Software Candidate will conduct analysis of industrial automation products, using benchmarking and other analytic techniques, create awareness of new competitive products and coordinate information from a living database of competitive product analysis. In this role, you will be responsible for technical competitive analysis of industrial automation products and systems, from market research to detailed product studies, including application and testing. You will document and present your findings to audiences spanning various business and executive teams to support strategic planning, new product development and field sales for competitive positioning. In addition, candidate will develop research reports for marketing and development engineering, with the goal to provide benchmarking and competitive intelligence insights. The candidate will work closely with all key members of the BU team to understand the research and analysis needed to support BU decisions, product strategy and development planning. Responsibilities: - Evaluates user experience, including programming and installation, and performance testing of industrial automation products. This will require developing and testing application code to run on various industrial control applications, including programmable controllers, visualization products and networks.
- Applies full range of usability evaluation methods to industrial automation products.
- Develops and evaluates metrics related to user experience of individual products and suite and the impact of end-user productivity and satisfaction. This includes desktop, web and mobile product designs and existing software products.
- Develops and maintains mockups and prototypes.
- Evaluates and analyzes software product designs and technology to support new product strategy and improve future product designs.
- Understands and stays current with trends and best practices in user experience, usability and automation design domains.
- Develops and maintains competitive benchmarking database.
- Support business and marketing goals with actionable analysis and competitive intelligence.
- Collaborates with product management teams to develop a portfolio of projects and analysis to support next generation product strategy and development.
- Clearly communicates and conveys design and analysis concepts, presentations and deliverables, both verbal and written. Must be able to work independently and communicate well with global development teams.
- Effectively teams with others through mutually supportive professional relationships, open and direct communications, honesty and respect. Able to cope with and leverage personality differences and differences of opinion. Organizes, leads and facilitates cross-functional projects. Ability to present and communicate research findings to small and large teams.
Requirements: - Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Electronics/Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in software application and industrial automation systems.
- Programming and Application Experience
- Practical experience in using C/C++, Visual Basic, Python, Java, Kotlin.
- Familiar with Object Oriented Programming, other modern programming tools & methodologies.
- Be able to identify the underlying mainstream tools and frameworks used to build up software package, such as Visual Studio, VSShell, Java.
- Good analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.
