The Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) is seeking applications for a fulltime Information Technology Technician 3. This position will report to the EECS IT Specialist II. Primary duties include installation, troubleshooting of IT hardware and software and audio/visual support for departmental, and college events. Must possess the customer services skills and flexibility required to support a complex and dynamic academic and research environment.
Functional Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Oversees new technology installation and maintenance.
- Reinstalls desktops and laptops with new versions of operating systems and applications tailored to each user's specific requirements.
- Provides on and off-campus audio/visual support for events sponsored by EECS and the college.
- Sets up Cisco Webex, Citrix, Zoom and other web/video/audio conferencing technologies independently or in combination.
- Coordinates with event staff on scheduling, setup, and support of the event.
- Trains on-site presenters in use of technology.
- Maintain and assist in classroom technology equipment.
- Performs backup of departmental servers and other critical systems.
- Proactively monitors operating conditions of all technology and makes life cycle recommendations to the supervisor.
- Research of new technologies and innovations to keep current in latest developments in IT technology.
