The Board of Directors of Wheat Belt Public Power District (WBPPD) in Sidney, Nebraska is currently searching for a General Manager. Qualified applicants will be strategic thinkers with business and financial acumen, strong interpersonal skills, and collaboration and negotiation aptitude.
WBPPD is looking for candidates with at least five years of management experience, preferably in an electric distribution system. Successful candidates will:

Have general knowledge of engineering/operations
Understand the importance of customers role in the organization
Ability to foster relationships with power supplier and multiple affiliated organizations
Passion to lead, build teams and develop talent
Interest in federal, state and local laws is a plus
Previous General Manager experience at an electric distribution system is preferred and a bachelor’s degree is required (degrees in business administration, electrical engineering, accounting and finance, or related field). Strong candidates will have an advanced degree and/or previous participation in NRECA’s Management Internship Program (MIP).
With headquarters located in Sidney, NE, WBPPD is an electric distribution system with roughly 5,000 distribution meters and 2,200 miles of distribution line covering portions of five counties and 3,600 square miles. Sidney, NE is located in the southern panhandle of Nebraska, about 60 miles from Wyoming and 10 miles from Colorado. WBPPD is a public power district with 28 full time employees and a seven-member board. WBPPD’s mission is to deliver electricity safely, reliably and efficiently.
