Do it here. What you’ll be doing... The BAU Outside Plant Fiber Design Engineer is responsible for Fiber Optic detailed network design for fiber-based networks. It requires an in-depth understanding of current fiber optic design standards and industry processes. It also requires a close coordination with site fielding staff and drafting personnel to support the final product. Typical OSP design responsibilities range from the initial determination of the pathway routing and construction alternatives based on site walk outs to final detailed design generation. The OSP fiber design engineer is fully responsible and accountable for the final design content, budgets, splicing schematics and document generation to support the placement of the physical fiber infrastructure supporting Outside and Inside Plant communication facilities. The BAU Outside Plant Engineer will also be responsible for all legacy and OneFiber fiber networks from North Central to West Texas as well as the Panhandle of Texas. Responsibilities in these networks include BAU and TM (AU) roles. You will manage various projects in the geographic area of responsibility. In addition to this you will be researching network configurations for available paths to support optimum bandwidth for current and future network requirements. You will leverage design, red line and as build documentation to achieve key objectives. Cost analysis, budget and scope of work creation, bidding and awarding projects, project management of all tasks are critical to this role. Your work will entail extensive engagement in nSAP, CCP, Venue, Vbuild and SAP. You will also perform site walks and site surveys as well physical damage assessments so as to verify damaged assets. You will engage with all levels of permitting agencies including, Municipalities, TXDOT, Civil Engineers, customers and contractors.
