Assistant Professor of Computer Information Science

The Computer Information Sciences (CIS) Department at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant level beginning in the fall of 2021. The CIS Department serves approximately 175 majors with four full-time faculty members. The department is seeking qualified individuals to teach a variety of courses which may include system analysis and design, database management, software engineering, LAN administration, website administration, networking, and data analytics. Candidates with strong computer programming skills and some expertise in the area of cyber security are of particular interest. Candidates must demonstrate a strong desire to excel in teaching and service to the department, college, and university. Candidates must also exhibit a strong interest in building and maintaining a sustainable program of scholarship and creative activity. Academic requirements for this position include an earned doctorate in computer information science, information technology, or computer science from a regionally accredited university by no later than August 1, 2021. (Candidates without a doctorate degree may be considered for a Master Instructor position). Finalists must successfully complete an onsite interview, teaching demonstration, and research presentation as judged by the CIS faculty. Recommendation for hiring by the majority of the faculty members will be made to the Dean. Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
