UW-IT is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers, and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation, and discovery at the UW. IT Infrastructure (ITI) within UW-IT, provides system design, system management, software engineering and operational support for academic and administrative systems, the University’s wired and wireless networks, telecommunications services, departmental IT and the UW-IT organization. UW-IT has an outstanding full-time opportunity for a Technology Project Manager on our Network Implementation team. The purpose of this position is to manage complex enterprise network projects including gathering hardware requirements, procurement, deployment and verification. This will include coordinating staffing resources to ensure timely and successful implementation. The incumbent will coordinate the efforts within UW-IT (e.g. Network Design & Architecture, Network Implementation, Network Operations Engineering, Business & Finance, etc.) along with external clients, departments and vendors. The Technology Project Manager will be expected to work with project sponsors and stakeholders from the University of Washington , UW Medicine, Pacific Northwest Gigapop, Data Centers, and the state K-20 Education network. REQUIREMENTS: Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED: CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Currently this position is 100% remote due to Covid-19 restrictions. This position will have the following requirements when a return to work occurs; The position contributes in a collaborative team environment, in an open physical workspace, through ad hoc meetings focused on design and/or problem-solving, using a variety of communication and collaboration tools. The incumbent may need to work varied hours to meet priority project milestones and other externally imposed deadlines and to accomplish work assignments on which the activities of others depend. Occasional travel may be required. The same levels where applicable of participation are required in a remote work environment. This is an essential-restricted position and required to report to work remotely when UW suspends operations. Must be able to lift 40 pounds overhead, this may include lifting above the head. Must use proper lifting techniques. Must be willing to work in the University Medical Centers and meet minimum qualifications for working at such centers. Must be able to operate a state vehicle on a daily basis, which requires a valid driver's license recognized by the State of Washington. It may, on occasion, be necessary to travel on weekends and up to one week at a time in the performance of assigned duties.
