Pay Grade: M7, M8, M9 POSITION SUMMARY Provides coordination and technical support specifically in electrical, instrumentation, communications and security systems related to Hoosier Energy facilities throughout the power network. This position will maintain and keep up facility electrical systems as well as coordinate modification to existing buildings. Works with the special projects team leader and facilities manager on the development of new projects and serves as department subject matter expert in the field of electrical and instrumentation. Works with outside engineering firms, contractors and vendors to assure electrical scope is identified and assures changes or additions are properly documented. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Directs and oversees contracted work with emphasis on instrumentation and electrical scope. Contracted services include routine instrumentation and electrical maintenance work, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and corrective maintenance activities. Other contracted services include oversight of project related new instrumentation and electrical work, telecommunications and security system work and directing contractors during emergency repairs or restoration of electrical systems and controls.
- Serves as the facilities department representative pertaining to coordination of projects within other Hoosier Energy divisions including power production, power supply and compliance where facility electrical, controls, instrumentation and communication are affected. Works with generating plant and power supply peers to ensure proper integration of systems within division facilities.
- Works with the facility manager and facilities team leader/special projects to develop project plans, prepare scope of work, review existing electrical, instrumentation and control drawings and equipment specifications, to properly integrate new work. Works with owner’s engineer to develop electrical plans and specifications pertaining specifically to Hoosier Energy facilities. Provides information to owner’s engineer and reviews engineer’s design plans for accuracy; assists the engineer and contractor’s with buried cable locates including electrical, fiber and telecommunications lines. Ensures that changes to electrical and communication facility infrastructure are captured and updated on existing drawings.
- Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of all facility electrical, instrumentation and control, security and telecommunication systems throughout the power network. Writes preventative maintenance plans and works with the facility maintenance planner to implement plans including identification of critical and routine spare parts for systems. Ensures that spare parts are set up in computerized maintenance management system for new facilities and remodeling projects. Analyzes building management system data, remote meters or other remote monitoring devices to detect anomalies or pending trouble pertaining to electrical systems. Possesses skills to use multi-meter to troubleshoot systems, isolate electrical circuits and controls and interpret data to make decisions for next action. Understands building electrical infrastructure and knows how to switch/rack out breakers and restore electrical service.
- From time to time, assumes role as project manager for new building construction projects, additions and remodels or other facility related needs. Prepares project justification. May lead and manage projects that have emphasis on electrical, instrumentation, security, controls and other engineering disciplines including mechanical and civil.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education: - Associate’s Degree minimum in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation and Controls or Electronics, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Training in NEC code, electrical circuits, electronics and controls required
Experience: - 5 years’ prior technical experience in the instrument and/or electrical field
