| Department: OpenStax Position Summary: OpenStax at Rice University is a non-profit textbook publisher, learning software producer, and platform for learning research, with a mission to provide every student with free or low-cost access to high-quality learning materials. Our library of over 40 openly-licensed books and our research-backed homework system have increased student engagement and helped save students over one billion dollars. The ideal candidate for the Software Engineer II position will have experience implementing visual designs using ReactJS and CSS-in-JS tools. Strong focus on accessibility, mobile functionality, and overall performance for our millions of users create additional technical challenges on this project. In addition to writing code, this position requires reviewing other developers' work, participating in the estimation/specification of new work, architecting new features, and mentoring more junior developers.
