Duties include conducting research in statistics and data science and collaborating with Iowa State University researchers on projects requiring expertise in statistics and data science. Â Opportunities to teach one to two course per year may be available.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Â PhD in Statistics or related field.
Â Expertise in computer vision, machine learning, predictive inference, or statistical inference for data from complex surveys. Â Interest in application areas, including forensics, plant sciences, or land use surveys. Â Ability to collaborate with statisticians, computer scientists, electrical engineers, and mathematicians on NSF HDR:TRIPODS-funded research. Â Ability to contribute to the missions of the Center for Statistics and Applications in Forensic Evidence, the Center for Survey Statistics and Methodology, or the Baker Center for Bioinformatics and Biological Statistics at Iowa State University.

The Department of Statistics at Iowa State University features one of the top-rated graduate programs in the country, ranking second in number of PhD graduates since 2003. Â The department currently has around 140 graduate students, 100 undergraduate majors, and 40 faculty. Â In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, the department plays a major role in Iowa State Universityâs undergraduate data science program. Â Statistics faculty and students conduct research in statistical theory, computing, and methods. Â Opportunities for collaboration on a wide range of applications are plentiful. Â The Department of Statistics is located in Snedecor Hall, which was extensively renovated in 2009.
