DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION (DEI) OFFICER , Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) , to develop a diverse and inclusive culture and bring knowledge from the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to promote best practices in the department. Will design and implement outreach activities to attract and retain a diverse population of students and faculty; promote a diverse and inclusive culture within the department; and work with internal/external partners to develop tools, resources, and a range of solutions to grow this culture. Responsibilities include working with faculty, the leadership giving officer, and EECS' senior leadership to raise the financial resources needed to effectively recruit a diverse population of students and faculty and create an inclusive environment; working with the EECS community to implement best practices that strengthen inclusion around race, gender, disabilities, sexuality, nationality, social class, and religion; working with the faculty equity officers and relevant committees/task forces to define EECS' community values, develop and implement plans of action to promote DEI, and assess and report on the outcomes; and assisting with creating policy, identifying the needed resources, and implementing the resulting actions.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least five years' professional work experience with a track record of leading DEI efforts in higher education; demonstrated evidence of strategic and tactical thinking about diversity and inclusion and scaling projects to achieve maximum impact; knowledge of laws/regulations/guidelines related to affirmative action and civil rights enforcement; excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills; and ability to collaborative across teams and manage multiple complex projects.
