Provide a broad range of professional coordination, administrative and financial support services to the faculty and Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department. This is a front-facing position including, but not limited to, communication and projects involving other University offices, collaborators, faculty, students, alumni, and industrial relations.
Provide professional, customer-focused administrative support service to Department Chair and Associate Chair for Recruiting and Development. This will include effective diary management, triaging of business/communications, thus enabling her/him to be fully briefed and prepared to manage their communications. Develop and ensure the proactive maintenance of proper communication channels/links with all partners (internal and external), including all University offices, collaborators, EE faculty, EE students, alumni and strategic industrial relations. Establish and maintain a paper and electronic filing system to ensure communications, documentation and other records are appropriately kept and easily accessible. Establish and maintain any necessary databases especially related to recruiting and development activities, student groups, alumni, industry, and government funding sources. Carry-out background research on a variety of topics. Includes information gathering, trends, patterns in data, and inform the Chair as appropriate. Develop and maintain Chair’s communications to include social media and web-content. Work with university marketing services, EE faculty and students to design, maintain and develop web pages. Collaborate and coordinate with strategic partners on project development and management. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree. Two (2) years upper level secretarial experience or High School diploma with six (6) years of increasingly responsible administrative, secretarial and clerical or the equivalent experience. Proficient in MS Office Suite. Experience utilizing the Internet for research purposes. Communicate effectively and professionally. Establish effective working relationships; work well in a team environment. Excellent organizational and administrative skills. Ability to work with little supervision to meet deadlines, plan and set own work priorities.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field. Three (3) years of professional experience. Experience working in higher education. Knowledge of funding mechanisms for higher education establishments. Experience with scientific, technical or industrial field; administration, project management, development or marketing. Experience with web design, maintenance, and development of page content and social media. Experience in project development or project management.
