Spectra-Physics Lasers is looking for a Scientist to join our dynamic Ultrafast Amplifier R&D group.
The successful candidate will design and construct prototype Chirped Pulse Amplifier (CPA) systems, ultrafast seed laser systems and high energy pump laser systems with unique performance characteristics. System architectures will include mode-locking, Q-switching, harmonic generation, pulse stretchers and compressors and regenerative amplifiers with electro-optics modulators.
The candidate will assess the performance of these systems and their suitability for product development. Job duties include surveying the published literature, modeling of laser systems, and design of systems with optimization of cost, performance and manufacturability. During the project the candidate will summarize and communicate the technical results to marketing and senior management and evaluate the impact of product development on the current technology roadmap.
Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering and/or Physics and 10 years of experience in Industry
Hands on experience with Ti:sapphire CPA and other regenerative amplifier systems
Hands on experience with Ultrafast laser sources and diagnostics and dispersion management
Experience with Q-switched lasers and electro-optics is desired
Experience with diode-pumped solid state-lasers is desired
Experience managing projects and people is a plus
Superior problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
