The CBS has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Coordinator position. Under the general direction of the CBS's Operations Director and with a team of biostatisticians, research coordinator and a software engineer, this person will implement and facilitate data coordination for clinical research studies -- ensuring research projects are conducted in compliance with funding agency regulations, institutional/departmental guidelines, and standards of Good Clinical Practice. The Research Coordinator will help support data coordination activities for three or more randomized clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute in the areas of back pain, robotic surgery, and appendicitis research. This position does not directly involve interacting with or recruiting patients for research studies

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analysis and Reporting 
• Review and submit Institutional Review Board applications for new projects.
• Prepare automated daily monitoring reports for principal investigators and research study team for existing projects with respect to recruitment activities, follow-up, and protocol deviations and violations. The CBS presently uses R for automated study reporting.
• This position will work with studies involving human subjects research and therefore clinical Human Subjects training is required. 
• Responsible for reporting of data coordinating activities to the UW Institutional Review Board, at least annually.

Protocol Implementation 
• Design, develop, document and maintain version-controlled case report forms in Word and conversion to PDF.
• Design, create and revise electronic case report forms in REDCap.
• Design, document and implement procedures for protocol audits to assure protocol compliance and to ensure research data quality.
• Ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within needed time frames to meet research objectives.

Study Management:
• Management of user access to the data management portal and REDCap databases.
• Centrally review data collected by clinical recruitment sites and initiate and manage data queries.
• Regularly attend joint clinical coordinating center and data coordinating center meetings.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in public health, epidemiology, psychology, or other health-related field. Equivalent experience may substitute for degree.
• 3+ years of work experience in a research setting working on large health-related research studies (preferably multi-site) with multiple PI's.
• Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience in developing and submitting IRB proposals and modification requests.
• Experience in the REDCap web-based survey development and research management system.
• Experience with standard statistical software, such as R or STATA.
• Basic understanding of epidemiology or biostatistics.
• Ability to collaborate and work efficiently on multiple projects with limited supervision
• Tracking of multiple study deadlines and independently managing multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail, accuracy, and quality results.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, particularly in the context of collaborating with and coordinating a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Most importantly, successful candidates will have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage relationships and interact with a wide range of researchers and clinicians.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
