Opto Alignment Technology, Inc. (OATI), a world leader in the development and sales of precision optical test systems, is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and creative optical metrology engineer to join our growing business. The successful candidate will report to the CTO and work with existing OATI software, electronics, and opto-mechanical engineers to develop new optical metrology and test products for the optics production and assembly market. The person we are looking for will have a strong background in applied engineering, the physics of electro-optical devices, surface metrology, software development, and automated positioning systems. OATI maintains a “hands-on” work environment in which the candidate may contribute to the creation of new products and optical sensing technologies and share in the opportunity to learn though exploration and creativity in a truly entrepreneurial environment.
MSc or PhD in Physics, Optics, Applied Engineering, or equivalent in a related discipline
Solid foundation in physics, applied engineering, electro-optics and associated sensing technologies
Hands-on experience with tools for optical testing, alignment, metrology, and imaging
Experience integrating sensors with automated positing systems
Knowledge of basic dimensional metrology methods and data analysis principles
Solid background in math and coding in MATLAB
Working knowledge of Zemax and SolidWorks preferred
Proven prototype development and hands-on lab skills
Good communication skills, team player, and ability to work with minimal supervision
US citizenship is required for compliance with ITAR regulations
