The Diagnostic Imaging and Image-Guided Interventions Lab (PI: Kenny Tao) at Vanderbilt University is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position to develop novel technologies to visualize and quantify structural and functional changes in the retina during ophthalmic surgery. Previous system implementations included combinations of OCT and reflectance confocal imaging with machine-learning based tracking algorithms. Additional functionality to be integrated include OCT angiography, OCT elastography, and augmented-reality feedback.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering and a strong background and publication record in optical engineering, electronics, and hardware design/translation. Previous experience with OCT, ophthalmic imaging, and C/C++/CUDA/machine-learning is preferred but not required.
Applicants should email Kenny Tao with a CV, complete list of publications, and contact information for three references.
The Diagnostic Imaging and Image-Guided Interventions Lab (PI: Kenny Tao) is part of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University. Our research focuses on the development of novel optical imaging systems for clinical diagnostics and therapeutic monitoring in ophthalmology. Ongoing research focuses on clinical translation of therapeutic tools for image-guided intraoperative feedback using modalities including optical coherence tomography and reflectance microscopy. Our trainees interact closely with investigators across multiple disciplines Vanderbilt University, including the Vanderbilt Eye Institute, Biophotonics Center, Vanderbilt Institute for Sugery and Engineering, and Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Vanderbilt University is an equal opportunities employer. Start date is flexible. Initial appointment will be for one year with opportunity for renewal.
