The optical materials scientist/engineer will work on the development of materials for multi-layer thin films for optical data storage. If you are a talented scientist/engineer with a desire to learn and create many aspects of a complex system in a fast-moving startup company, this position is right for you.
Participate in the design and construction of optical test and characterization setups
Conduct experiments on optical data writing/reading in multilayer films
Investigate underlying photothermal physics for data writing
Help select, process and analyze thermoplastic materials and optically responsive materials for novel multi-layer films
Collect, compile, and present data, for internal use and to show progress to attract investment.
Display good interpersonal skills to work with our cross-functional team, offering guidance and lending assistance to achieve our ultimate goals.
Management opportunity for appropriately qualified candidates
Experience in optical materials research
Ph.D. in Physics, Physical Chemistry or Materials Science
Knowledge of polymer materials and analytical methods, including investigative techniques and tools, and root cause analysis
Understanding photo-physical effects, heat transfer phenomena, mass transport, viscoelasticity and equipment design
