Seagate is looking for an intern to join the Laser & Light Delivery CAG (Characterization & Analytics Group) team is part of the HAMR (Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording) development program. HAMR is the future of HDD recording technology growth and is enabled by an integrated laser that is used to energize a plasmonic near-field transducer. Our team is responsible for developing custom laser diodes, integrating lasers into read/write heads, characterizing lasers/integrated-photonic systems, and development needed optical-system metrology.
About the role:
This internship position will involve a combination of technical tasks and projects related to design and characterization of lasers and optical systems. Various aspects of laser /optical design, test set up, measurements, and data analysis may be involved.
Student pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in Physics, Lasers/Optics, or a relevant Engineering degree. Some hands-on experience and familiarity with design and/or characterization of lasers and/or optical systems is preferred.
