Boston Electronics is the application specialist and product distribution partner for advanced electro-optics companies from Europe, the US and Japan. We are looking for a skilled, detail oriented and personable Application Specialist to join our team. You will be working with our customers and partners who use infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) detectors, photon counting solutions, lasers, LEDs, emitters and thermal imaging and THz sensors in their products or research. You should be naturally curious, interested in learning about new and different applications of electro-optical technology. The successful candidate will share our enthusiasm for supporting exciting technology and science, promote a positive Boston Electronics image in the market, and contribute to growing our business.

We are looking for a candidate who best meets the following capabilities:
Have a relevant college degree or equivalent work experience in engineering or the physical sciences; experience and/or course work related to electro-optics is a plus
Be legally able to work in the United States
Have excellent English verbal, listening and written communication skills
Travel as required, primarily within the US and Canada, and periodically to Europe. 6-10 trips per year are estimated for customer visits and industry events.
Training includes working closely with our team and 1-2 weeks in Europe with our product partners.
After training you will; 1) help customers select the appropriate solutions that meet their needs, based on their applications and requirements; 2) provide quotations and follow up with the customer to answer questions, close the sales, and provide any needed after sales customer support; 3) visit customers as needed and attend exhibitions/conferences to understand market trends, users’ needs and to promote Boston Electronics solutions
Be an advocate for new products and capabilities that we should support based on your market and technology understanding – we are always looking to appropriately grow our portfolio
Excellent attention to detail required for specifications, documentation and product use
You must be able to work with Microsoft Office, Dynamics CRM, Adobe Acrobat, etc. Work is primarily in an office or laboratory environment in our building and customer sites. You will occasionally need to lift packages up to 30-40 lbs.
About Boston Electronics
Boston Electronics specializes in UV, visible and IR detectors and sources, and signal processing electronics for photodetection. Light sources associated with photodetection including tunable IR Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs) and picosecond lasers for Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC). TCSP is a technique to record low level light signals with picosecond time resolution.
