We are looking for a failure analysis engineer to determine the root cause of line module failures that occur in the field to support our company core value of World Class Quality. You will be expected to investigate complex problems and empowered to make recommendations on the path the company should take to remedy the situation once the full extent of the problem is determined. This position has an emphasis on continuous improvement of our optical communication products, while maintaining Infinera’s high quality of reliability recognized by our customers.
Responsible for researching failures down to component level to improve the quality and reliability of our products while simultaneously ensuring changes recommended support a high yield in the manufacturing line.
Determine the root cause of failures, analyze failure reports and recommend corrective action to prevent re occurrences of problems.
Responsible for customer-facing failure analysis reports and communication.
Provide product technical expertise and support to manufacturing.
Work with designers to resolve failures and articulate solutions directly with internal teams.
Own projects that require investigating how and where to collect data, analysis of that data to build clear and concise conclusions, building presentations and delivering those presentations to various audiences to include middle and upper management.
BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering or other equivalent engineering field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
3+ years of hardware failure analysis with a track record of using data driven approaches to solve quality and reliability issues.
Understand basic statistics to include failure analysis specific metrics like failure rates and mean time between failures.
Familiar with failure analysis tools, techniques and processes.
Excellent interpersonal, customer communication (both written and verbal), presentation, and structured problem solving skills.
Familiarization with active and passive optical components.

Allentown manufactures 1.2Tb/sec Line Modules used on Infinera’s DTN and DTN-X Platforms. Integrated into our System which provides up to 160 channels of bandwidth to transmit across metro, long-haul and even subsea networks.
