Leads development activities in creating technologies and methods that improve overall business-unit capability and efficiency.
Designs, develops, and tests advanced optical systems, components, and products.
Performs and creates advanced analysis techniques for the testing of unique and novel optical components and systems.
Applies quantitative analysis in determining root cause of technical issues related to the fabrication, assembly, and testing of optical components and systems.
Evaluates manufacturability of optical designs and provides feedback to both internal and external customers.
Develops and implements test procedures and evaluates and selects appropriate test methods and instrumentation. Understands full breadth of specifications used to characterize optical surfaces and systems.
Generates optical budgets and sensitivities for optical components and systems.
Drafts acceptance test procedures and reviews data to verify compliance to customer requirements and specifications.
Mentors and trains junior engineers in technical skills and processes related to precision optical design and analysis.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD or MS in optics or physics and 7-10 years' of experience in optical engineering, design, and metrology.
Minimum 7 years of experience in the design and testing of precision aspheres and optical systems.
Hands-on experience with testing, alignment, and troubleshooting of optical component and system metrology.
