PIKE Technologies is seeking candidates for a Diamond Turning Technician
The Diamond Turning Technician is responsible for manufacturing precision optical components by operating computer controlled diamond turning machinery, making setups, and measuring diamond turned components.
Set-up and operate CNC Diamond Turning machines with limited supervision
Follows instruction on routers and drawings and uses proper methods of producing a quality part
Inspect and document all specified features using a variety of inspection devices within the diamond turning department including interferometers, profilometers, and mechanical gauges to verify spheres, aspheres, flats, or other opto-mechanical components
Maintains work quality with minimal supervision
May initiate and assist in developing practical solutions with engineering on problem jobs based on knowledge and expertise
Work cross functionally to define processes, tooling and fixtures
Minimum qualifications include High School Diploma or equivalent; basic blue print reading, and 1-2 years of experience in a machine shop or optics fabrication. Must be able to work and collaborate as part of a team.
2 year technical degree, advanced blue print reading, and 3-5 years working in a machine shop or optics fabrication. Must be able to work and collaborate as part of a team.
Mechanical and electrical skills to troubleshoot, adjust, repair and maintain equipment
Knowledge of basic Windows-based operating systems
Ability to prioritize daily work activities and interpersonal skills to work with personnel at all levels of the organization
Attention to detail in order to perform stringent visual inspections
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, angle and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and descriptive geometry.
Knowledge and skill in applying mechanical and standardized analytical and evaluative methods, techniques, procedures and/or policies which relate to diamond turning processes. Ability to solve practical manufacturing problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lean into and adjust machinery while standing and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must demonstrate the ability to inspect parts with eye.
