The Biomedical Engineering Program at Duquesne University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant position, beginning in the fall 2019 semester. Candidate will perform teaching and research as a part of a growing and innovative academic environment. Duquesne is committed to the teacher-scholar model, where excellence is expected in both education and research.
The ideal candidate will have postdoctoral experience in addition to a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline. This successful applicant will develop a vigorous, externally funded, independent research program in the broad areas of biomedical engineering, preferably with emphasis in biomedical optics, biosensors, or biomechanics. This candidate will teach introductory engineering courses in addition to higher-level coursework in his or her area of research and higher level core coursework outlined in our curriculum. An emphasis in engineering fundamentals is important. As the program incorporates a strong component of software tools in biomedical applications, we will emphasize a background in computational and applied mathematical methods. Applicants are expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
