The Division of Imaging, Diagnostics, and Software Reliability (DIDSR) in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Silver Spring, MD is seeking an individual optical engineer/physicist with experience in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) and optics. This project will focus on optical testing of the reliability and performance of existing VR/AR devices with potential medical applications, which includes application development and laboratory measurements. The candidate will also participate in technical writing for journal publications. The selected candidate will join an active research group in regulatory science areas in experimental and computational medical imaging in the White Oak campus in Silver Spring (see link below) within the metropolitan DC region with multiple opportunities for further training and collaborations within and outside the FDA. Candidates for this fellowship must undergo a background investigation and need to have resided in the United States for at least three of the past five years.
