Job Description and Responsibilities The Diamond Turning Technician is responsible for manufacturing precision optical components by operating computer controlled diamond turning machinery, preparing tooling and setups, and measuring diamond turned components. This position reports to the Production Supervisor and will work closely with engineering and other manufacturing technicians. • Produces optical components by loading and aligning components on diamond turning machines and reviewing and modifying setup parameters. • Prepares equipment for operation by designing and preparing tooling and aligning and setting up diamond tools. • Develops and establishes standard manufacturing processes for diamond turning • Maintains in-process specifications and controls and determines sequence of operations based on work instructions. • Utilizes optical and mechanical metrology equipment to measure optical surfaces. Primary Responsibilities • Measures parts by operating CMMs and specialized optical testing equipment. • Evaluates test data and results using proprietary software tools. • This individual will be responsible for the set-up, programming/editing, and operation of ultra-precision Diamond Turning/Micromilling machines. • Monitors manufacturing processes and works with engineering to evaluate and implement process improvements. • Ensures proper operation of equipment by performing scheduled preventative maintenance. • Actively participates in building a collaborative and productive team environment. • Assists in the implementation of company strategic objectives.

Work Experience • The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience fabricating precision diamond-turned optical components. • Previous experience operating precision hand tools such as micrometers and calipers is required. • Experience using CAD/CAM software is preferred. • Understanding of the mathematics of optical surfaces and geometry is required. • Candidate must be able to perform frequent and sustained standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, and have sufficient visual acuity for reading computer screens and hardcopy documents. • Optical system alignment and assembly experience a plus. • Associate or College degree in a related field is a plus.
