Material Development—Designing, undertaking and analyzing information from controlled laboratory-based investigations, experiments and trials.
Material Development—Writes publications, gives presentations, and protects inventions with patents, showing strong scientific expertise and research knowledge.
Material Development—Plans and is responsible for implementing research and development projects utilizing inhouse capabilities and through collaboration with external partners. Proposes product and/or process development in response to market driven requirements.
Material Development—Supports sales through development of new material solutions and new products? supports manufacturing by providing technical support as needed
Technology Scouting—Personal contact with customers, potential customers, governmental, industrial or university staff to establish collaborations and/or secure funding for proposed research activities
Technology Scouting—Network with universities, national laboratories, governmental organizations and centers of excellence
Technology Scouting—Provides technical support to THE COMPANY business units including interacting with customers on their behalf
Planning, Reporting, Controlling—Prepares written and oral presentations including: whitepapers used to solicit funding for RDMNA activities, written publications, drafting of patent disclosures, formal presentations at industrial and scientific conferences, monthly and quarterly reports, status and final project reports as required, labnotes for internal publication/filing, reporting on federal/state funded projects
Planning, Reporting, Controlling—Responsible for cost control of projects within a workcluster to ensure annual costs and resources are fully allocated and funded.
Educational Training—MS Degree (required) and PhD (preferred) in Science / Engineering fields
Scientific/Research Experience—Expertise and relevant experiences (as evidenced by publications, presentations, patents) in area(s) relevant to SCHOTT projects/products/portfolio
Project Experience—Strong capacity and solid knowledge of project management.
Manufacturing—Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, Manufacturing Processes (preferred).
Other—Advanced skills/abilities with mathematical and data analysis.
Work Status—Capability of meeting US Government Security requirements (required)
