Based within the Faculty of Science, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Physics department, undertaking experimental and theoretical work on non-linear optical resonators. This position will contribute to the research efforts of the Photonics group at the University of Auckland, with emphasis on the investigation of nonlinear effects in optical microresonators and/or fibre ring resonators.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have deep understanding of the basics of nonlinear optics and be familiar with the principles and phenomena of optical microresonators and/or optical fibres.
We are therefore seeking applications from candidates who can demonstrate the following:
A proven track record of research, with a substantive record of publications in high impact journals
Previous experience in experimental photonics with a working knowledge of essential methods of experimental optics
A PhD in experimental Physics or Engineering
As part of this role, you will also be expected to contribute to the supervision of graduate students as well as providing assistance with the preparation of academic reports, (including posters and publications in peer-reviewed journals) from time to time as required.
