ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, PROGRAMS AND INDUSTRY RELATIONS, Materials Research Laboratory-American Institute for Manufacturing (AIM), to assume significant administrative and managerial activities. This will include high-level strategic direction of work across AIM Photonics Academy; operational oversight and approval authority for project implementation; liaising with AIM Photonics Institute leadership and MIT; and representing AIM Photonics Academy at the local, state, and national levels.
The American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics, AIM Photonics Institute, is one of fourteen Manufacturing Innovation Institutes established by the Obama Administration to stimulate employment in manufacturing in the U.S. The mission of AIM Photonics Institute is to establish a technology, business, and education framework; create integrated photonics solutions from innovation to manufacturing-ready-deployment; and support the end-to-end integrated photonics manufacturing ecosystem. AIM Photonics Academy provides the unified knowledge, technology, and workforce interface for AIM Photonics Institute. The AIM Photonics Academy Mission is to support community, careers, and investment for U.S. world leadership in integrated photonics manufacturing.
This is a temporary, one-year appointment.

Job Requirements REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in photonics technology; at least seven years’ overall relevant work experience including industrial experience in manufacturing of photonics and/or semiconductors; experience developing and delivering training in an industrial manufacturing environment, working on government-funded projects, and working in lean manufacturing and lean/agile product development; excellent project management skills; experience creating and managing projects that include multiple stakeholders; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-volume, team-oriented environment; strong writing skills; and comfort giving presentations. At least one year of management or management consulting experience in a services-based startup desired. Job #15887
