Hamamatsu is one of the world’s largest suppliers of advanced light detectors and detector systems for industrial, scientific, and commercial applications, is seeking to fill an Inside Sales Engineer III position, in our San Diego, CA location. Our customer base is remarkably diverse; we serve Fortune 100 firms, top research labs, and innovative startups as well. This position requires working with, or exposure to goods and information that may be subject to the jurisdiction of the US State Department ITAR regulations (https://www.pmddtc.state.gov/index.html) and the Commerce Departments CCL (https://www.bis.doc.gov/index.php).
Lead Follow up and qualification: The ISE is responsible for initial lead contact, qualification and follow-up. The process of developing the first impression with customer by seeking to understand the customers needs while qualifying the business opportunity.
University and/or End User technical and sales support: Managing non-OEM order(s) up to $250k.
Opportunity Progression: Proactively determining how to get to the next step in the sales process of Discovery, Proposal, Handling Objections and Closing the Sale.
Become proficient with Photonics Technology and their Applications.
Territory and Customer Relationship Management: Manage Opportunities up to a level of $250K.
Special projects assigned.
Required Education, Training and Experience
BS Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office
Three (3) years experience functioning in an engineering role with significant customer interface and with a proven track record of solving customer's complex problems.
The ability to transport yourself to and from appointments.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience
4 Years Experience in Photonics Industry
2 year inside sales experience
1 Year Application Support for technical OEM Sales
Experience with Customer Resource Management Software
Experience with international business development
Experience with Lotus Notes
