This is a position for a knowledgeable optics/photonics professional with engineering background and very strong organizational, leadership and communications skills. This person will organize and lead new product introduction projects at the MKS optics factory in Irvine, CA. This person will be the main point of contact with customers for operational issues and actions concerning their assigned projects. This person also will support new business activity by reviewing RFQs, preparing cost and technical input to quote generation, and supporting quotation preparation by Sales.
Plans and leads new product introduction activity per the ISB new product introduction process, and ensures a smooth transition of new products into production
Establishes and develops collaborative engineering relationships with customers, serving as an interface between customer engineering teams and the MKS technical teams
Reviews RFQs and works with customers to form detailed understanding of customer requirements and performance specifications
Works closely with MKS process engineers and technicians to assess technical feasibility of project opportunities and resources required
Develops new product introduction project plans, including cost and schedule estimates
Prepares product cost estimates for quotation
Works closely with Sales and Business Development team in preparing and presenting technical proposals and quotations
Participates in and may lead technical negotiations with customers
Presents engineering data to customers
Facilitates process technology development tasks and projects in the ISB NPO factory
Contributes to improvement of quote generation and new product introduction processes
Leads 8D teams for root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action
M.S./B.S. in Optics, Optical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of experience in Optics/Photonics/Microelectronics industry
Minimum 5 years of project management experience, including responsibility as point of contact for customer interaction
Knowledge of engineering processes and documentation
Working knowledge of optical coating technologies and optics manufacturing
Working knowledge of procurement processes
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent organization skills
New business development experience
Experience with generation of statements of work and quotations
Experience with optical design packages (Zemax, FRED, Code V, etc.)
Experience with lithography systems
Knowledge of VIS, UV, DUV and VUV optical systems
