Advanced Photonix, Inc. (NYSE MKT: API) is a leading supplier of opto-electronic solutions and Terahertz sensors and instrumentation to a global OEM customer base. Our solutions are based on our patented high speed optical receivers in III-V materials in APD and PIN configurations and silicon Large Area Avalanche Photodiode (LAAPD), PIN photodiode and FILTRODE® detectors. The Terahertz sensor product line is targeted to the Nondestructive Testing (including Baggage/Cargo Scanning) and Quality Control markets. Using our patented fiber coupled technology and high speed Terahertz generation and detection sensors we are transferring Terahertz from the application development laboratory to the factory floor.
API supports the customer from the initial concept by the designing of the semiconductor, hybridization of support electronics, packaging and signal conditioning or processing from prototype through full-scale production and validation/test. Our served markets are: Telecom, Homeland Security, Military, Medical, and Industrial/NDT.
• Developing production and characterization test specifications • Creating and managing product documentation • Providing product development support which involves interfacing with Design, Test Engineering, Quality Engineering and others • Driving cost reduction activities such as second sources qualification, yield enhancement, test time reduction, etc.. • Write and review work instructions, test reports, datasheets and white papers • Support and coordinate the sustaining engineering effort for API’s existing product port folio • Researching technical issues • Walking customers through solutions • Reviewing product change requests • Learning about product updates and new technologies • Support API’s new product development effort s with expertise on semiconductor device applications
Required Skill Set
• Strong background in o General photo detector technology o Photometry o Semiconductor device characteristics and test specifications o Environmental testing o Wafer probing o Statistical Process Control
• Understanding of semiconductor device applications • Knowledge of o Semiconductor device design, simulation, manufacturing, integration and test o Wafer fabrication processes and technology o Design and test of amplifier circuits o General optics and electronics • Familiarity with Windows, MS Office applications, AutoCAD or ProE • Working experience in a production environment • Excellent communication skills and the ability to report project status verbally and in written form
Additionally desired Skills
• Familiarity with Quality Control, ISO Standards, Mil-Std-750, Mil-Std-883 • Hands-on experience in semiconductor device characterization
Minimum of 2 years of product engineering in the semiconductor industry.
Education BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.

This position requires a highly motivated engineer who can quickly understand a broad scope of products and applications. The candidate has to be able to independently work simultaneously on several projects. Excellent communication skills and a positive team attitude are a must.
