Electrical test engineer is part of the design team in the building, testing, and troubleshooting of optoelectronic parts and assemblies used in high-speed optical receivers.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Assist with design, implementation, documentation and similar related activities associated with successful product developments involving engineering activities to develop, test and maintain optical receivers from early prototype to an acceptable state of manufacturability with targeted yields, cost and schedule. 2. Design and prototyping of microelectronic sub-assemblies, including ceramic thin-films and PCB 3. Plan and carry out the R&D testing of optical, electrical, and opto-electronic components and assemblies and maintain Engineering documentation of such results. 4. Designing manufacturing test processes for high-speed optical receivers and transferring these processes to manufacturing 5. Sustaining test designs and equipment transfer to manufacturing 6. Creation of preliminary documentation of build procedures for new or modified optical receivers (includes word processing, some CAD) work, some spreadsheet analysis, and interfacing with the New Product Development (NPI) team member to collaboratively transfer Engineering components to production-ready status) 7. Assist employer in such other related activities as may be directed by Director of Engineering 8. Maintain such logs and records as Employer may require 9. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. BS in Electrical Engineering. 5+ years of electrical assembly, test and troubleshooting experience. 2. Experience using an oscilloscope, function generators and light wave component analyzers 3. Experience of analog and digital circuitry. 4. Strong Follow through Skills 5. Excellent communication and reporting skills. Skills 1. Proficient in the early prototype construction of hybrid assemblies for customized optical receivers; 2. Utilize self judgment and discretion on best implementation practices to achieve desired performance and manufacturability goals 3. Proficient in soldering and de-soldering SMT parts 4. Basic computer skills
1. Light industrial production environment with little exposure to noise, dust, dirt, temperature and the like.
2. Safety glass eye protection may be required.
