| Requirements: This position reports to the Manager of the Production Department. Experience with finished lens molding is desired. Experience with chalcogenide materials a plus. Must be skilled in the use of metrology equipment such as interferometers, profilometers, and surface roughness measurements. Must have demonstrated success developing and implementing manufacturing process changes for the fabrication of precision optics. Demonstrated ability to be pro-active in problem definition and solution, and possess a solid understanding of optics, chemistry, physics, material science, mechanics, or manufacturing processes. Excellent verbal and written skills are required. Must demonstrate analytical thought processes and creativity when providing solutions. Must be able to work alone with minimal supervision and in a team environment and have an understanding of lean manufacturing principles, six sigma, and ISO 9001. The FLM Engineer will evaluate, develop, improve, and document both exisiting and novel manufacturing processes for the molding of finished optics of chalcogenide (ChG) materials, focusing on specific applications that align with local and global SCHOTT initiatives. Position will be responsible for timely response to customer requests, design of tooling, manufacture of ChG optics conforming to customer specification, process development, product development, and surface metrology. |
Job/Education requirements for this job area a Bachelor of Science in Physics, Material Science, Glass Science or relevant Engineering discipline. Ten years of progressive experience in optics manufacturing and process development environments. Successful candidates must be capable of meeting U.S. Government security requirements.
