CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in optical sensing and imaging. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a closely related discipline and a strong research experience with a record of scholarly publications in this area. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a high-quality, externally funded research program and to contribute to the educational programs of the college.
The scope of this position includes: novel optical and laser technologies for sensing, imaging, and display, sensitive lidar systems, wearable devices for virtual and augmented reality applications, nonconventional photodetection systems, multisensory integration for monitoring and surveillance, and thermal and infrared imaging, and other novel areas of laser and optical systems.
CREOL is one of the world’s foremost institutions for research and education in optical and photonic science and engineering. It offers interdisciplinary graduate programs leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Optics and Photonics and a BS degree in Photonic Science and Engineering. The faculty and students are engaged in research covering all aspects of optics and photonics including lasers; optical fibers; integrated photonics; nonlinear and quantum optics; and imaging, sensing and display. Over the years, the college has maintained a tradition of promoting growth in optics and photonics and a strong partnership with industry. UCF, with an enrollment of more than 66,000 students and growing, is located in Orlando, a large metropolitan city centrally positioned in Florida’s High Tech Corridor between Tampa/St. Petersburg, and Cape Canaveral.
