Senior Coating Scientist provides technical leadership in design, R&D, manufacturing of thin films. Provides leadership and deep understanding of the market as well as new technology advancements.
Essential Job Functionsinclude the following, but are not limited to:
Effectively working with internal groups to provide and communicate technical expertise throughout the organization. Working closely alongside Coating manager, Global partners, Thorlabs technical support team to provide customer support, quotes, data, and product plus information.
Provides state of the art coating designs from UV to Mid-IR both transmission and reflection.
Ability to utilize all formats of deposition, E-beam, IAD, IBS, Magnetron Sputtering
Ability to design coating tooling for precision optics and fiber.
Initiates and Supports new products for catalog attending weekly design meetings.
Supports OEM and specials business with needed designs.
Develops and maintains methods and procedures to optimize manufacturing efficiencies and quality.
Fosters continuous improvement and continuous improvement culture.
Works closely with all technicians, engineers and maintenance personnel.
Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar and progressive position.
Ph. D. in Physics
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Proficient computer skills and coating software, TF Calc Optilayer, Film star
Strong ability to work well in a group atmosphere, and comply with high-quality standards.
Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing production priorities.
