A fully proficient optical engineer with professional experience in new product development. Advance development of product concepts, ideation, and feasibility through optical modeling, and follow it through the entire development and release process. Ability to perform technical evaluations, creation, modifications, and test of current and new projects. Work independently on optical tasks in cooperation with project teams. Provide direction or guidance to technical support level staff.
Proficient in optical design and techniques for a wide variety of product
Work requires analysis, application and modeling of technical principles to develop new designs, processes, or product improvements.
Will have primary accountability for optical designs, and optical components of a project.
Work outcomes are in collaboration with project team.
Coordinates research and tests to validate design, effects and consequences.
Will work with suppliers to bring products into production, and optimize around manufacturing trade-offs.
Building strategic working relationships - developing and using collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
Provide direction or guidance to technical support level staff.
Masters of Optics desired, Bachelor’s degree minimum in appropriate technical field required with heavy optical design and development experience.
Minimum of 8 years of experience as an optical design engineer:
Understanding of optical engineering principles, geometric and physical optics, Illumination and stray light analysis.
Mastery of optical software for lens design and optimization for imaging optics. Familiar with illumination sources and illumination modeling software.
Development of optical system architectures.
Optical metrology, colorimetry and photometric measurement techniques and equipment.
Familiar with optical manufacturing techniques, inspection processes including molding with optical grade resins.
Proven track record of opto-mechanical product development history.
Biomedical optics with emphasis on vision screening & diagnostic methods, a plus.
Physical optics with some experience in spectroscopy, a plus.
Working knowledge of FDA and QMS requirements, a plus.
